At Ahern, our mission is to strengthen the agricultural sector through collaboration and knowledge sharing. This commitment was reflected in the event we organized in September 2024, in conjunction with Enza Zaden, which took place in the picturesque vineyard of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. The meeting brought together the most important cucumber growers in the region, who, through this event, had the opportunity to acquire key knowledge that can contribute to their growth.
The day began with a talk by renowned financial analyst Erick Guerrero, who presented a detailed analysis of the main national and global economic trends. Guerrero focused especially on the challenges and opportunities for the agricultural industry, highlighting the relevance of the U.S. market, to which many of the attendees export their products. His intervention provided producers with a broad perspective on the economic context, helping them to make more informed decisions in their commercial operations and exports.
The event continued with a conference given by an expert from Mucci, a specialist in the marketing of agricultural products for export. The speaker shared valuable tips and the main requirements that cucumbers must meet to successfully enter international markets. Their recommendations opened the eyes of producers to the importance of adjusting their farming practices to the demands of foreign markets in an increasingly competitive environment.
The next segment was presented by Ahern engineer Eulalio Fonseca, who gave a technical lecture on how to improve the nutrition of cucumber plants. Fonseca emphasized the importance of proper plant empowerment to prevent disease and maximize production, a crucial issue for growers looking to keep their crops healthy and profitable. The strategies shared by Fonseca allowed producers to obtain concrete tools to optimize their crops.
The event continued with a speech by engineer Herlindo Martínez, from Enza Zaden, who presented the advances in cucumber genetics. Martinez shared information on new varieties that offer greater disease resistance and better yields, as well as the advantages of investing in genetic innovation to ensure long-term crop competitiveness.
After the lectures, participants enjoyed a delicious lunch in the vineyard, complemented by a tasting of local wines. This moment of relaxation was ideal to encourage the exchange of ideas and experiences between farmers, speakers and Ahern and Enza Zaden teams. The opportunity to live together in such a pleasant environment allowed us to strengthen ties, strengthen relationships and generate a sense of community among all those present.
The event was a resounding success and was notable for the value it brought to cucumber growers in the region. Shared knowledge, practical strategies and collaboration between experts and farmers contributed to strengthening the capacity of producers to face market challenges, both locally and internationally. At Ahern and Enza Zaden, we are convinced that events like this are fundamental for the sustainable development and competitiveness of farmers in an increasingly globalized agricultural world.
Undoubtedly, this event in San Miguel de Allende left a positive impression on all attendees and reaffirms our commitment to the growth and success of the agricultural sector.
