On September 4th, Ahern participated in the Spicy Peppers Field Day, held at AgrĂcola âEl PatrĂłnâ, located in Valle de Trinidad, Ensenada, Baja California.
The event brought together producers, technicians, and representatives from various seed companies to learn about and compare the performance of Caribe, Jalapeño, and Serrano pepper varieties.
Throughout the day, several varieties developed by Bejo, Fito, HM Clause, Syngenta, and The Kiban were showcased, highlighting improvements in yield, plant health, fruit uniformity, and adaptation to local conditions. Attendees had the opportunity to tour the fields, observe the agronomic performance of each variety, and exchange experiences on nutrition management, crop health, and pest control practices.
Valle de Trinidad is a key region for vegetable production in northern Mexico, and events like this reinforce Ahernâs commitment to innovation and the transfer of knowledge to local growers.
Beyond the variety demonstrations, the field day served as a space for technical exchange and collaboration, highlighting the importance of selecting materials adapted to each region and maintaining close communication between the field, growers, and seed companies.
Through activities like this, Ahern continues to build meaningful bridges between research, production, and the market, driving the productivity and competitiveness of chili pepper cultivation in Baja California.
