Every September 29, we celebrate National Corn Day in Mexico. This date not only honors an ancestral crop but also invites us to recognize its current impact on the economy, culture, and agriculture of our nation.
Within this panorama, sweet corn holds a special place. Its presence in the agri-food market has grown in recent years, especially in its processed and export forms.
What is the economic significance of sweet corn in Mexico?
In 2024, the foreign trade of prepared or preserved sweet corn reached a value of nearly 18 million dollars, according to data from the official portal Data México.
In the second quarter of 2025, Mexico exported more than 300 thousand dollars in processed sweet corn, mainly from Mexico City and Yucatán, with the United States as its primary destination. This trend indicates a growing niche, particularly in the value-added market.
Sweet corn represents much more than food: it is a symbol of innovation, adaptability, and connection with the modern consumer. At Ahern, we work to provide solutions that strengthen producers, whether through adapted genetics, technical guidance, or sustainable tools that add value to every crop.
This National Corn Day, we celebrate the past while also looking ahead.
Because when it is sown with purpose, corn not only nourishes—it transforms.
