Cultivating Innovation at the Sweet Corn Field Day in Irapuato

Last August, in the agricultural heart of Irapuato, Guanajuato, the Sweet Corn Field Day was held at Rancho Los Nicolases—an event that brought together growers, technicians, and seed company representatives with a common goal: to drive innovation and strengthen sweet corn cultivation in Mexico.

With the participation of more than 50 attendees, the event became a space for learning, technical exchange, and collaboration. The seed companies Bayer, HM Clause, and Syngenta joined the event, presenting their latest sweet corn varieties developed to address the current challenges of Mexican agriculture.

The day began with a series of technical presentations, where experts shared key insights on genetics, agronomic management, plant health, and market trends. Attendees had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the characteristics of the new varieties, their field performance, and the benefits they offer in terms of yield, quality, and adaptability.

During the tour of the demonstration plots, participants observed the performance of the varieties under real growing conditions. This hands-on approach made it possible to evaluate key aspects such as uniformity, color, size, disease resistance, and climatic adaptability—essential factors for making informed decisions in their production processes. Close engagement with growers, the exchange of experiences, and personalized attention were fundamental pillars of the event.

At Ahern, we believe innovation truly matters when it’s experienced in the field—when it translates into tangible benefits for those who work the land. That’s why taking part in events like this is an essential part of our commitment to the agricultural development of the country.

The Sweet Corn Field Day in Irapuato was a clear example that the future of agriculture is cultivated through knowledge, collaboration, and trust. We will continue working hand in hand with our partners and growers to deliver real solutions that enhance the productivity and sustainability of Mexican agriculture.
