Being close to growers means bringing our expertise to where it really matters: the field. That’s why, at Ahern, we continue to participate in events that allow us to observe the performance of our varieties, share experiences, and build relationships based on trust and results.
In Zacatecas, we held an event dedicated to the cultivation of Saladette tomatoes, during which local growers were able to learn about different varieties directly in the field. The event provided an opportunity to share insights, analyze how the crops perform, and discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with this important crop.
We also participated in Expert Talk, an event organized by our business partner Enza Zaden Mexico in Galeana, Nuevo LeĂłn. This event brought together specialists and growers to share experiences, knowledge, and perspectives on tomato cultivation in the northeast of the country.
During the event, new tomato varieties with high resistance to Tomato Rugose Virus—one of the main challenges facing current production—were presented. The San Blas variety, exclusive to Ahern, took center stage at the event as an alternative developed to meet the needs of protected agriculture.
We thank Enza Zaden Mexico for creating these opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing, which allow us to support growers with plant varieties tailored to current field conditions and challenges.
Meanwhile, in Loreto, Zacatecas, we held an onion demonstration event. Attendees had the opportunity to observe the performance of different varieties and share experiences regarding the specific needs of the crop in the region.
Each of these workshops underscores the importance of working directly with farmers. From Saladette tomatoes and new solutions for combating the Rugose Virus to onion varieties, these meetings help us better understand each growing region and generate useful information to make better decisions.
